Not sure how to find the messageboard that it said band members answer, but I have a question for adam if this is him, or gets to him... do you have, or have you considered a book of your poetry for sale? Maybe just song ideas that didn't make it? And where is this messageboard?
My name is mary kate manning. I am 19 years old from Chicago, IL. Before you skip this, just dont. I have a lot of shit to say I've been meaning to tell you. was able to see you in chicago at house of blues in april of last year. you may have recognized me as one of the youngest gals in the crowd singing every single line of your songs, but the fact is, i have loved you since the day i came out of my mothers womb. why wouldn't I? fuck the fact that you are a lyrical genius who produces lyrical fucking GOLD, but for the mere fact that my name (mary) is nearly in some way shape or form in most of your songs speaks to me (yes, this applies to maria, mary jane, etc.) not only do you sing harmonious wonderful melodies about me, you sing about anna, margery, and elisabeth. i have three sisters named ann, margaret, and elizabeth. some might call it coincidence, i call it fate. The fact that you broke up a fight during sullivan street basically made me pee my pants. you're hilarious and i have never known anyone to do that (yes i watch all of your youtube videos) i know im coming off as one of those crazy fans that have lost their minds in the depths of someone's lives other than their own, but the truth is, i probably have. I can honestly say i have never been so impacted by any artist so much in my entire life (robin pecknold is a close second) and that i really want (more like, NEED) you to come back to me in chicago. I have a way of getting to front stage and I know you'd see me if this happened. you got fucked up with my friend kevin in texas at the bars almost two years ago, and i'd love to do the same and show you around chicago with me and all of my sisters who, you somewhat adore in some way - i mean, they are in your songs;)
all of this to say, its not just about me. everybody loves you. i sincerely would die (hypothetically) if you came to chicago. i tweet at you almost every day. still waiting for your response. please just come to chicago. one last time. i really couldnt ask for anything more. fucking love you
together with some friends we've been there at one of those concerts in Amsterdam where/when the album "Live at Heineken Music Hall" has been recorded. Still one of my favourites. In 2008 we saw you and the other guys together with Blof at Concert at Sea. It was really amazing. Now in 2012 my boyfriend and I will go to a roadtrip to America (september 2012, New York and California) and of course we would love to see a concert of your band. There are no tour dates planned but is there any possibility that this will change until september?
To see you perform live is truly something. Every time (it's been many) I feel like a witness so someone who is "working it all out." You just put it all out there and we all feel it. I was too late to submit this for the album cover contest but wanted to share it with you anyway. I channeled my "inner Adam." Hope it came through :) Would love to know what you think of it and get it entered in the cover contest if possible. Thanks for everything your music had done for me.
I sincerely hope you are feeling better and cant wait till you guys hit Manchester England again.
I wanted to tell you that every year when the clock strikes 12 on new years morning I retreat away from the party, sit alone in a quiet spot and play "Long December". I've been doing this for about 8 years and every year I see in my mind the years gone by. The beauty, the pain, the love, the loss. But each time I have grown. Each time I am older. Each time I have changed. It gives me a single solitary moment of reflection echoed year after year allowing me to see the true evolution of my life.
We miss you here in england. Please take the time to visit us.
The GreyBird Foundation was established because we believe America is a dream in which the thoughts and needs of each and every person matter. Unfortunately, people feel small as the world expands and they forget that they ARE America.
So we find the people down the street from you who are trying to do their part to help and we try and help THEM. Get involved with the idea of being involved people. After all, it's your town, your country, your world, and no one will ever make as much of a difference as you can just by waking up and being a part of it.
