My love affair with this band.

Prior to my purchase of August & Everything After my music collection was full of 80's hair band music (some of it the worst of the worst: White Snake, Warrant, yes I was lost). I heard Mr. Jones on the radio and it sounded like nothing else on mainstream radio, I had to have it and more of that type of music- I was fourteen at the time and didn't know a damn thing about the kind of music that would really speak to me... I remember the day I bought August & Everything After. I…

Counting Crows Fan Called Up To Heaven

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=121837141236868

I would like to tell you about the best person that I ever came to love. Tiffany Maggard was born January 15, 1988. Tiffany was called home on May 25, 2011 when a terrible plane crash took the lives of her and 2 more beautiful girls in our community. In her short 23 years here on this earth, Tiffany touched more lives than she ever imagined.… Continue

Letter to Adam

Dear Adam,  As a long time fan, I've only recently discovered your online "presence." This last week or so, I have been listening to interviews and looking up music from live shows that I never even knew existed.  Its been wonderful.

That being said, I was saddened to hear the news today that Amy Winehouse died.  When I heard the news, I thought of you and your struggles with fame and mental illness.  It struck me that fame is such a catch22.  Its something (in your line of…

Great website!

Just found the site.  Kept up on happenings through Crowstown and Adam's twitterings.  But this is great.  Love the all in one place venue.  Very excited.

In honor of Tiffany

Tiffany Sparkman Maggard was involved in a deadly plane crash on May 25, 2011. She was the biggest Counting Crows fan ever. Ever since the day we lost her, I have heard at least one Counting Crows song every day on the radio, sometimes up to even 3 or 4 times. I truly believe that it is a sign from Tiff saying that she is fine and we are all going to be okay. We want to do something for Tiff to honor her, so we are trying to get Counting Crows to respond to us.

Saturday Nights And Sunday Mornings

Here's my review of SNASM, written in April of 2008. I thought it might as well be here as anywhere.

So I thought I would finally write about this record. I've had it a good number of weeks now ever since my friend Sean gave me an advance copy (I leaked it to no one and later bought it twice, such is my devotion to this band). Sean's review can be found here: http://www.thefugitivemotel.org.uk/?p=370

August & Everything After Concert DVD

Screened the August & Everything Concert Film last night at my house with a bunch of friends, including Kasey Anderson. Kinda loved it. Forgot how raw I left it all. We only played 1 show for the film so...no overdubs & no multiple takes of songs to choose from.
Just the one night exactly the way it looked and sounded.
Real but...well, very real. Like when you dreamed you went to school in your underwear.

"The Rescue Blues"

Great Kasey Anderson cover of "The Rescue Blues". Ya know, I sang the bass in The Gospel Quartet on the original track on GOLD. We were out all nite the nite before. I was drinking & smoking up a storm. The next day when we got to the studio, my voice went nowhere but low. Strangely, there was also no sign of the guy who was s'posed to sing bass so I said "Um...I will volunteer to sing bass".  2…

Counting Crows On Tour

The GreyBird Foundation was established because we believe America is a dream in which the thoughts and needs of each and every person matter. Unfortunately, people feel small as the world expands and they forget that they ARE America.

So we find the people down the street from you who are trying to do their part to help and we try and help THEM. Get involved with the idea of being involved people. After all, it's your town, your country, your world, and no one will ever make as much of a difference as you can just by waking up and being a part of it.
