Hi guys,
I will admit this is the biggest favor I've ever asked of anyone and not just celebrities, but do know it will change not only my life but my daughter's. I met my girlfriend 4 years ago, and fell in love instantly, she had been going through a hard time and was moving to Portland, I couldn't imagine what life would be without her so I dropped out of college, packed my bags and moved to Portland as well. Things were great but as with any relationship they have their ups and downs and we certainly have had ours over the years. She got pregnant about 16 months ago, we were on an off time when it happened and neither of us were exclusive. So 8 months ago on August 7, 2011 our daughter was born and it was the greatest day of my life, she was 6 weeks early and was in the NICU for over a week, which was also the scariest time of my life. Once she had recovered we decided we should get a paternity test just for peace of mind and I found out I was not the father. It broke my heart more than I'd ever imagined was possible. We took some time off to figure out what that meant but after a month I realized I love the two of them too much to want to do anything else in my life but be with them. Ever since we found out we were having a girl she wanted to name her August after her late father's birthday and to be honest your debut album, we both are always listening to "Counting Crows Radio" on Pandora. The real father is back in the picture, and I realize I may never have a chance with August's mother and I can get over that eventually, but I don't want to jeopardize August's life because of it.
So I was unable to get tickets to your Denver show but live in Denver and was wondering if one or all of you guys could sign my copy of "August and Everything After" to August so I could give it to her for her 1st birthday. I planned on going Almost Famous style and just waiting outside the Paramount all day before the show and all night afterwards hoping to catch one of you, but figured I'd try writing as well.
Thank you for your time,
Cory
The GreyBird Foundation was established because we believe America is a dream in which the thoughts and needs of each and every person matter. Unfortunately, people feel small as the world expands and they forget that they ARE America.
So we find the people down the street from you who are trying to do their part to help and we try and help THEM. Get involved with the idea of being involved people. After all, it's your town, your country, your world, and no one will ever make as much of a difference as you can just by waking up and being a part of it.
