Comment by Sharla Joy Burnett on August 11, 2012 at 3:39pm Ok......I will say August and Everything After remains my all time fav release by CC, but that is for very personal reasons I won't discuss here. In RE: Saturday Nights and Sunday mornings, it is VERY WELL DONE. By far exceeds A&EA in scope, range, guitar........well everything.........I have to admit, I was FLOORED & IMPRESSED. Missed listening for a long time, but glad to be catching up.
Comment by Rhonda Weaver on August 18, 2012 at 10:03am Hey Sharla, you know how when you buy a CD and you find yourself skipping over a few songs to get to your favorites? I swear, August and Everything After was the first CD I ever bought that I didn't miss a single song! Never have I done that in my life. Anyway, I have a feeling Underwater Sunshine is going to be the same as soon as I get my hands on it! I can't wait to sing along! Thank God for blue tooth because I can sing in the car and people on I-540 think I am having an intense conversation! LOL!
Comment by Sharla Joy Burnett on August 18, 2012 at 5:23pm LOL......I can't say A&EA was the first time I did that, but I get you. I was picking out records when I learned how to walk. Sadly, my mother rocked me to sleep until I was 11 to the Carpenters (talk about wrong lol). We had music all of the time, from the Jackson 5, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA...and on it goes. While my favorites are The Cure, Johnny Marr, Joy Division/New Order - Counting Crows rank very high on my list. They have amazing talent and oddly Adam reminds of Robert Smith in some way. Not sure why, but I find some common threads in lyrics that only I probably connect. My ALL TIME favorite Counting Crows song is hands down A Murder of One. I put that song on and the world washes away and I know it's not all for nothing. I'm different from a lot of fans though, I don't go nuts over famous people, I more view them as individuals that are very human in every right. I wish Adam, the band and everyone supporting their efforts the best. I worry about a lot of these artists because while it's fun to live the life of music, it takes a lot out of a person to be so honest, so open and put yourself out there so boldly. Cheers to the band, the fans & the music <3
Comment by Rhonda Weaver on August 18, 2012 at 10:23pm I hear ya, sister. My family is both very musical and sadly, political. My Dad played as a hobby and bought my brother his first guitar when he was nine. Music was just always important in our family. My Mom, older than most fans, was a big ABBA fan! She also bought me my first album, Abby Road! I have to confess, I named my daughter Rhiannon. We were all just a bunch of hippies! Anyway, I love what you posted abut the lyrics and connecting. Isn't that what it is all about? I tend to shy away from mainstream, so much of what I hear just doesn't bring about any emotion from me. I love discovering new artists, and I love that Counting Crows ascribes to the same. They are so not a self absorbed, self promoting band. They write and perform from the heart while encouraging so many new artists to just get out there and be real. To me, that is connecting. While I have respect for most genres, my favorites are Foo Fighter (love the direction Dave Grohl has taken their music), Caroline Wonderland (bluesy) Josh Ritter (nobody has more fun on stage!) Cross Canadian Ragweed (a local favorite) and I am an old Parrothead! We have a local Jimmy Buffet club. It goes without saying I love Counting Crows but when i wanna rock...Pearl Jam or Staind. I am dating myself with that one, but music of any kind, especially live, I am up for! Thanks for sharing! Have you viewed the video of Carriage on here? Man, brings tears to my eyes and I just can't get enough of that song!
Comment by Deborah Dufenetz on August 20, 2012 at 10:32pm Go back and listen to "Recovering the Satellites". "Catapult", "I'm Not Sleeping", and it ends with "Walkaways", which leaves you wondering "What the F(&*^%!! - That's IT!?? The Counting Crows are relevant from their first record to their latest, and there's not too many bands who can say that. I am a fan of great lyrics - Bruce Springsteen, Todd Rundgren, Sting, Charlie Sexton (Oh yeah, check him out!!). There's a guy named Peter Stewart who was in a band called Dog's Eye View back in 1995 that wrote beautiful words. Johnny Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls - Yeah, he's hot - but listen to "Accoustic #3", "Slide", "Black Balloon" or "Sympathy". I love Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty and John Mayer (yeah, say what you will, but the guy is a GREAT songwriter and guitar player). And the band that tops all those is Counting Crows. Great music, great lyrics, great performances - I am sorry for those who just don't get it.
Comment by Sharla Joy Burnett on September 2, 2012 at 5:11pm Sorry, I've been really busy so I just saw this Deborah. One of the hardest things in music is when something is so amazing to you and not to someone else lmao. I love that you have music and artist you love, but nothing ever will top The Cure, Johnny Marr and Joy Division/New Order for me. Just like there is not any woman singer ever that has a more beautiful voice than Annie Lennox in my mind. I'm not saying other people don't have talent, I'm saying what hits home for me is different that what hits home for you. But that's the great thing about music, it really doesn't matter who does it for you as long as some form of music moves you deeper into life as a person....it's all good in my mind. So I love that you are passionate about the above artist, I really do.....it makes me happier than you know to see ppl stand up for what they love. Actually, the funny thing is that while I really like CC as a band, I bet I don't even like the same kind of music Adam does. Now THAT makes me giggle ;)
Comment by Sharla Joy Burnett on September 2, 2012 at 5:19pm Wait, all I do is talk about The Cure, NO & Johnny Marr and CC.......so for the heck of it since you were so open, my other favs are The National, Modest Mouse, ummmmm......to this day I LOVE the Police, Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, Stone Roses, Trash Can Sinatras, Roddy Frame/Aztec Camera, PD Heaton/Housemartins/Beautiful South. I've always had a thing for UK music. OMG...THE CRIBS ROCK! Let me get American tho...Blind Pilot, Born Ruffians ( I laugh so hard when I listen to them), Broken Social Scene, Interpol. Ok, I'll shut up now, sorry. :P

The GreyBird Foundation was established because we believe America is a dream in which the thoughts and needs of each and every person matter. Unfortunately, people feel small as the world expands and they forget that they ARE America.
So we find the people down the street from you who are trying to do their part to help and we try and help THEM. Get involved with the idea of being involved people. After all, it's your town, your country, your world, and no one will ever make as much of a difference as you can just by waking up and being a part of it.
