Today's shots from the roots of UNDERWATER SUNSHINE feature the magnificent Fairport Convention. Let's start out with the late great Sandy Denny singing her signature tune "Who Know Where The Time Goes?" off my favorite Fairport album UNHALFBRICKING (1969). Dig Richard Thompson's gtr playing throughout the song commenting on Sandy's breathtaking vocal - one of the best deliveries of any song I can remember - truly haunting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2xODjbfYw8
Here's one from their 2nd album, the 1st of 2 they released in 1969, this is "Tale In Hard Time" from WHAT WE DID ON OUR HOLIDAYS - like the guy says "Sounding like The Beta Band meets The Byrds" - dig Richard Thompson's stinging gtrs in the middle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLvDinvnMwk
Last of the evening. After he left Fairport Convention, Richard Thompson made a series of records w/his wife Linda. The title track from their last album, SHOOT OUT THE LIGHTS (1982), played live 3yrs later by Richard - "Shoot Out The Light" - this is the apocalypse landing on a marriage. His gtr is shocking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iMbP6TcU4Q
The GreyBird Foundation was established because we believe America is a dream in which the thoughts and needs of each and every person matter. Unfortunately, people feel small as the world expands and they forget that they ARE America.
So we find the people down the street from you who are trying to do their part to help and we try and help THEM. Get involved with the idea of being involved people. After all, it's your town, your country, your world, and no one will ever make as much of a difference as you can just by waking up and being a part of it.
